TRB 'Transportation Finance: Forging a Sustainable Future - Now!' Conference

May 19-21, 2010

Overview

Transportation funding is at a crossroads. As funding dries up for transportation projects, we must find new and creative ways to finance them. Join us in New Orleans in May 2010 as we come together and keep America moving.

The Transportation Research Board of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences is organizing the Transportation Finance: Forging a Sustainable Future - Now! conference to explore options for financing surface transportation projects as the need for infrastructure exceeds available Federal and state funds. This conference will be a forum for sharing information and presenting the latest research findings and policy analyses related to transportation finance. We need your expertise, so we invite you to share your knowledge by presenting at this conference on any of the following subjects:

-Intergovernmental Aspects of Financing Multi-Modal Transportation Projects (roads, transit, freight, intermodal)
-Project Development Strategies to Support Successful Financing and Accelerate Delivery (building project and/or program consensus)
-Policies, Programs, and Techniques to Engage the Public in the Transportation Funding Debate
-What's "Hot" in Alternative Financing: PPPs, bundling funding resources, developer impact fees, asset monetization, value capture, shadow tolling (pass-through financing), developer equity, etc.
-Technological Advances: video tolling (pay-by-mail), user fee collection methods, information systems
-Financing Instruments: Transportation Infrastructure and Finance Innovation Act (TIFIA), Build America Bonds, National Infrastructure Bank (NIB), State Infrastructure Bank (SIB), pension funds, GARVEE Bonds, debt financing, etc.
-Creative Ways to Leverage Available Funding Sources as Infrastructure Funding Gap Widens
-Balancing Transportation Investments Among All User Groups (people and freight)
